Five Defensive Habits That Saved My Ironhold Base
I lost my first Ironhold Dominion base in embarrassing fashion — spread thin, no real walls, units scattered. The second time I leaned into defense, and the game opened up completely.
Terrain first. Build with the map, not against it. A chokepoint between two cliffs is worth ten extra towers, and the game clearly wants you to notice that.
Layer your walls instead of building one thick ring. Attackers that break the first line stall out in the gap, giving your units time to respond. It's a small change that bought me whole battles.
Keep a mobile reserve. I used to commit everyone to the front, then had nothing left when a raid hit from the flank. Holding back a fast unit or two saved me more times than I can count.
Finally, scout before you expand. Knowing where rivals are lets you build toward safety. Patience here really does pay off.
